There is news of resumption of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra which was temporarily suspended due to bad weather and necessary track repair work. Now soon the entire route will reverberate with the slogans of ‘Jai Mata Di’. Let us tell you that recently a major landslide occurred due to heavy rains in the mountains. Many passengers also lost their lives.
Now the weather has changed. The track which was damaged during the rains has been repaired. Now the yatra will resume from 14th September. If the weather is adverse then the Shrine Board will take further decision.

The Shrine Board has appealed to the devotees to check the weather conditions and the latest advisory of the Board before setting out on the yatra.
The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra from Katra in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir has been suspended since August 26. The yatra has been suspended due to landslides on the pilgrimage route. It is worth mentioning that on August 26, 34 people were killed, mostly pilgrims, in a landslide caused by heavy rains near Indraprastha Bhojanalaya in Ardhkumwari, while many others were injured.
The traders demanded that the Shrine Board should at least clarify the situation with regard to resuming the yatra, as Navratri is also going to start from September 22.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Chairman Manoj Sinha has constituted a high-level three-member committee to investigate the causes of the landslide that occurred on August 26. The committee, headed by Jammu and Kashmir Jal Shakti Department Additional Chief Secretary Shaleen Kabra, includes Jammu Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar and Jammu Inspector General of Police BS Tuti and will submit a comprehensive report to Lieutenant Governor Sinha within two weeks.
