Delhi Rain News: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a seven-day forecast for Delhi, which predicts mostly cloudy skies, light to heavy rains and strong winds. Delhi Fire Service (DFS) officials said one person was killed and five others were injured when a part of the roof of the Delhi airport collapsed.
Heavy rains in the national capital since late Thursday night led to waterlogging on roads and a part of the roof of Terminal-1 of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport also collapsed. The rain started at 3 am late night. Safdarjung Meteorological Center has recorded 153.7 mm of rain. People shared videos and pictures of submerged roads and vehicles stuck in traffic jams due to heavy rains on social media.

Roof of T1 collapsed at IGI Airport
Delhi Fire Service (DFS) officials said that one person died and five more were injured in an incident when a part of the roof of Delhi airport collapsed.
According to a Delhi airport official, keeping safety in mind, all departures from Terminal 1 have been temporarily stopped and check-in counters have been closed. Only domestic flights are operating from Terminal-1.
The official said that till 2 pm today, all flights of IndiGo and SpiceJet flying from Terminal 1 have been cancelled.
The minister took stock
According to officials, vehicles parked in the pick-up and drop section of the terminal at Indira Gandhi International Airport, the world’s busiest airport, were damaged when roof sheets and support beams collapsed.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu said he was “personally monitoring” the incident and the injured were rushed to a hospital.
Waterlogging in several areas
The incessant rains have also led to waterlogging in some areas of the national capital. Pictures posted on social media by several users showed severe traffic jams and flooded roads in some areas of Delhi.
The traffic police said in a post on social media platform ‘X’, “Due to waterlogging near ‘Y-Point’ Salimgarh and Nigambodh Ghat, traffic is affected on Outer Ring Road from Shantivan towards ISBT and from ISBT towards Shantivan. Please plan your journey accordingly.”
Due to waterlogging, traffic was also affected at ITO, Veer Banda Bairagi Marg and Dhaula Kuan.
Delhi-NCR water-water
The Indian Express quoted the Delhi Traffic Police as saying that waterlogging at the Minto Bridge underpass has disrupted traffic on Minto Road in both carriageways from Kamala Market to Connaught Place and vice versa.
Trucks also got completely submerged in water at the Azad Market underpass. Traffic has been badly affected in both directions from 100 Foota Red Light to Lado Sarai Red Light on Anuvrat Marg due to waterlogging.
Pictures of areas around Connaught Place and several metro stations have also emerged, showing waterlogged roads. Workers in Noida and Ghaziabad were further inconvenienced as roads were flooded due to incessant rain.
According to India Today, several areas including ITO and some sectors of Noida, Teen Murti Marg, Moolchand, Anand Vihar, Mehrauli Badarpur Road, Mandawali, Bhikaji Cama Place, Madhu Vihar, Pragati Maidan, Veer Banda Bairagi Marg, Aurobindo Marg, Outer Ring Road, Munirka, Dhaula Kuan, Moti Bagh are waterlogged.
Water entered homes in Chittaranjan Park in south-east Delhi, damaging furniture and other household items.
IMD issued advisory
According to Indian Express, IMD officials have issued an advisory to be cautious of water-logging in low-lying areas, low visibility, slippery roads and traffic jams due to heavy rains.
The Meteorological Department advised to stay away from water-logging areas, monitor traffic on the roads and be aware of weather warnings.
Many routes were also changed by the traffic police at many places. According to the India Meteorological Department, 124.5 to 244.4 mm of rain in a day is put in the category of very heavy rain.
