Rain Update: This time, rain may dampen New Year’s celebrations, as the Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert in several states across the country. According to the IMD, several states in North India are expected to experience rain amid severe cold. A snowfall warning has also been issued for mountainous regions. Due to rain and snowfall, temperatures may drop by 2 to 3 degrees.
Cold wave conditions are currently ravaging the eastern and northern parts of the country. Today (December 31, 2025), rain and snowfall warnings have been issued for the capital Delhi, as well as Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and Jammu and Kashmir.
How will the weather be in Delhi?
The IMD has predicted a worsening weather in Delhi today. According to the weather department, the maximum temperature in Delhi on New Year’s Day tomorrow will be 20 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be 10 degrees Celsius, while the temperature may drop to 8 to 9 degrees Celsius in the morning. Additionally, a rain alert has been issued for Delhi starting this evening.
Cold wave wreaks havoc in Uttar Pradesh
Due to icy winds, a cold wave continues to wreak havoc in many districts of Uttar Pradesh. The weather will remain the same in many districts of the state today, the last day of the year 2025. According to the weather department, light drizzle is possible in several districts within the next 24 hours. However, heavy fog is expected in eastern Uttar Pradesh and several districts of western Uttar Pradesh today. The weather department has issued orange and yellow alerts regarding this.
Where will there be a cold day today?
On Wednesday, Azamgarh, Gorakhpur, Ballia, Deoria, Mau, Ayodhya, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Sant Kabir Nagar, Siddharthnagar, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Sitapur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Shahjahanpur, and Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh will experience a double attack of cold day and fog. Varanasi, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, Agra, Kanpur, Unnao, Mainpuri, Rampur, Kannauj, Rae Bareli, and Amethi will experience severe cold.
The capital Lucknow and Noida will also experience morning fog. The Meteorological Department predicts that the minimum temperature in these districts may be 9 and the maximum 20 degrees Celsius. Residents of Noida and Lucknow will get some relief in 24 hours. Kanpur city experienced the coldest night in the last 24 hours, with a minimum temperature of 4.4 degrees Celsius.
Weather in Bihar
The weather in Bihar may change today. Maximum temperatures are expected to drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius. In addition to the capital Patna, a dense fog warning has been issued for Gopalganj, Jehanabad, Gaya, Siwan, Bhojpur, Buxar, and East Champaran. The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain at some places on January 1st, New Year’s Day.
