Banks are going to remain closed on Wednesday and Thursday in many states due to Ganesh Chaturthi. According to the holiday list released by RBI, banks will remain closed in many states on 27th August and 28th August. These holidays have been given due to different festivals and local festivals. Banks will remain closed in Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji and Vijayawada on Wednesday, 27th August. Festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, Samvatsari and Ganesh Puja will be celebrated on this day.

Ganesh Chaturthi

Ganesh Chaturthi is a major festival of Hinduism, which is celebrated on Shukla Paksha Chaturthi of Bhadrapada month. On this day, devotees worship Lord Ganesha, the destroyer of obstacles, and Ganpati is installed in homes. In many places, it is also known as Vinayak Chaturthi or Varasiddhi Vinayak Vrat. It is believed that worshipping Ganesha on this day brings happiness and prosperity in the family and removes obstacles from life.

Samvatsari

In Jainism, Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturthi is celebrated as Samvatsari festival. It is a day of seeking forgiveness and self-purification, in which people apologize to each other. All these holidays are not simultaneously in all states. That is, where the festival is being celebrated, banks will remain closed. Banks will work normally in the rest of the country. Customers will be able to avail their facilities even when the bank is closed. Net banking, mobile banking, UPI and ATM services will not give full benefit.
