WhatsApp Message Translation: WhatsApp has finally started rolling out its new Message Translation feature to iOS users. This feature will allow users to translate messages in 21 languages directly within the app. The company included this update in the new version of the app on Tuesday. While this feature is currently available to a limited number of users, it will be available on all iOS devices in the coming days. According to reports, WhatsApp is using Apple’s Translation APIs for this translation feature, making translation not only fast but also completely secure.

Message Translation Feature in iOS

According to a report by WABetaInfo, this new Message Translation feature is included in the new iOS build of WhatsApp released on the App Store. This means users will now need to update their app to version WhatsApp for iOS 25.28.74, after which the feature will gradually become active on their devices.

According to the report, this latest iOS build includes Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin, Simplified), Chinese (Mandarin, Traditional), Dutch, English (UK), English (US), French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese languages.

Messages can be translated with a single tap.

The new feature will allow users to easily translate messages into 21 different Indian languages. After long-pressing on any message in a chat, users will need to tap the Translate button. This feature works across one-on-one chats, group chats, and channel updates.

Privacy Considerations

According to the company, Android users can enable automatic translation for entire chat threads, eliminating the need to translate each message individually. WhatsApp stated that the message translation feature was designed with user privacy in mind. The Meta-owned platform clarified that translations are performed on-device, and WhatsApp does not access any user’s conversations.

This new translation feature will automatically detect the language of a message. However, if the automatic detection is incorrect, users can choose the source language themselves. Users will have to download each language pack separately so that this feature can work even without an internet connection.
