When Ghulam Nabi said in front of PM Modi in Rajya Sabha – ‘handle the turban, handle the jatta’, know what happened then

Leader of the Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday termed the farmers as the biggest strength of the country. The senior Congress leader said that the farmers had been struggling since the British era and every time they forced the regime to bow down. He also quoted a few lines of the popular song “Pagdi handle jatta turban handle” during the peasant movements in Punjab in the 1900s and said that the peasants had also forced the British government to withdraw its laws. When Azad said this, Prime Minister Modi was present in the House at that time.




Senior Congress leader Azad started the discussion on the President’s address in the House and said that farmers have always been happy. In this sequence, he also detailed various farmer movements and demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the new agricultural laws should be withdrawn. Azad said that the strength of the farmers is the biggest strength of the country and we cannot reach any conclusion by fighting them. He said that if China has to fight, then fight China, Pakistan and Corona virus.

Participating in the discussion that farmers and jawans need for the country  , Azad referred to the slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan” and said that the soldiers engaged in protecting the borders of the country live in extremely adverse conditions where the temperature is minus 50 degrees Goes down to Celsius. He paid tribute to the 20 soldiers of the country who died in the Galvan Valley last year. He also paid tribute to the farmers who lost their lives during the last two and a half month agitation against the new agricultural laws.

Delhi condemned violence

The senior Congress leader on Wednesday strongly condemned the violence at the Red Fort in Delhi during the tractor parade of farmers on Republic Day in the Rajya Sabha. Ghulam Nabi Azad said that strict action should be taken against the guilty, but innocent farmers should not be targeted. He also demanded the government to withdraw the new agricultural laws. Referring to the violence on 26 January, Azad said that insulting the national flag is highly condemnable and strict action should be taken against those involved in that incident. But innocent farmers should not be targeted in this order. He also demanded a search for the missing people on 26 January.

Asked, how can Shashi Tharoor be a traitor?

Referring to the filing of a sedition case against Congress MP Shashi Tharoor and some journalists, Azad said that a person who has been the former Minister of State for External Affairs and has led the country in the world, whom the people have elected to the Lok Sabha If chosen, how can that person be a traitor.

Azad said that the impasse created by the agricultural laws is not new and farmers have been fighting for hundreds of years. He said that farmers are the donors of the country and we are nothing without them. What the government has to fight them, we have to fight the challenges like China, Pakistan and in this fight their party is with the government.
