Tolls will be abolished for access to the industrial sectors of Yamuna City. The Yamuna Authority (YEIDA) has directed the Yamuna Expressway management to remove the toll gate from the ramp between Sectors 28 and 29. Failure to comply will result in the toll gate being demolished with a bulldozer.
Toll plazas have been established on the ramps connecting Yamuna City at kilometer milestones 11, 12, 15, 16, 26, and 36 on the Yamuna Expressway. The Jewar toll plaza is located at the 39 kilometer milestone. Currently, a 60-meter road parallel to the Yamuna Expressway remains incomplete, forcing residents, including allottees, to access various sectors of Yamuna City.
Entrepreneurs complained to YEIDA about toll collection.
In 2025, YEIDA built a ramp to the expressway between Sectors 28 and 29 to connect industrial sectors to the Yamuna Expressway and made a provision to waive toll charges from entrepreneurs. For some time, entrepreneurs used this route without paying a toll, but now, about five months ago, the expressway management re-established a toll plaza. Entrepreneurs now have to pay a toll of approximately 80 rupees to travel here. This has angered the entrepreneurs. They complained to YEIDA about the matter. YEIDA has now ordered the management to remove the toll plaza and has threatened to demolish it with a bulldozer if they do not comply. Officials say that after the opening of Jewar Airport, industrial activity in the area will increase. Therefore, toll charges should not be levied for access to the industrial sectors.
More than 200 vehicles are coming and going daily.
Yamuna City is taking shape. So far, more than 30,000 residential plots have been allotted in the city, and over 1,100 houses have been completed. Meanwhile, a large number of people are commuting to work at 27 companies. Most of them travel via the Yamuna Expressway. According to management, more than 200 vehicles pass through the cut daily, and toll is being collected from them.
Completion Granted to 52 Companies
Sectors 28, 29, 30, 32, and 33 of Yamuna City are industrial sectors. Currently, the Authority has allotted 3,113 industrial plots in these sectors. Completion grants have been granted to 52 companies, and production has begun in 27. Construction work is underway for approximately 340 companies, while approximately 180 companies are preparing to begin production in the Yamuna Authority area by the end of this year.
What the Officials Said
Imran Ghani, Secretary, Yamuna Expressway Entrepreneurs Association, “Previously, there was no access road to these sectors. After repeated requests, YEIDA built a ramp with great difficulty. Now, a toll plaza has been established on this ramp. Entrepreneurs have to pay toll to reach their companies, even though there was a provision for no toll here.”
JK Sharma, Assistant Manager, Yamuna Expressway, “Tolls are collected on the Yamuna Expressway based on established conditions. We have not yet received any written orders from YEIDA to remove the toll plaza.”
RK Singh, CEO, YEIDA, “At present, we have been asked to remove the toll at the cut leading to Industrial Sector 28. If the management does not remove the toll plaza, it will be demolished with a bulldozer.”
