New Delhi: 7th Pay Commission: The announcement of increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) of 1 January 2021 may be further delayed. According to the National Council-JCM-Staff Side, the central government can announce the increase in DA of central employees in June. However, JCM officials say that the increase in DA for central employees will be at least 4 percent of the basic salary.

Will there be a delay in increase in DA?

Siva Gopal Mishra, secretary of the staff side, explaining the reason behind the delay in DA hike of 1 January 2021, says that we are in constant touch with the Department of Expenditure and Department of Personal and Training (DoPT) officials of the Ministry of Finance. They say that due to the second wave of corona virus epidemic, the entire plan of the central government got messed up. So everything has moved a month ahead. The DA hike which was supposed to be announced by the end of April or the middle of May, has now slipped by June.

Shiva Gopal Mishra says that this will not affect the 7th CPC pay matrix of central employees, as the central government has already freezed the DA and DR of employees and pensioners till June 2021. In March 2021, Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur had told in the Rajya Sabha that DA, DR increaseers would be resumed from 1 July. Therefore, if the DA hike of 1 January 2021 is announced today, then it will start from 1 July 2021 only.

How much DA will increase

In response to the question of how much DA is expected, Shiva Gopal Mishra says that according to the calculation of DA increase, the average inflation for July to December 2020 has been around 3.5 per cent, which means that the DA of central employees is 4 per cent. Will grow closer to

What will happen to the 3 pending DA’s?

Regarding the three pending DA installments, Shiva Gopal Mishra says that we are in touch with the central government officials regarding this. And we are soon going to sit on this issue and find a solution to it. The good thing is that the government is not against giving the outstanding installments of DA. We have proposed to the government that if they are not able to provide the remaining three installments of DA to the employees at once, then they can also give it in several parts.
