7th Pay Commission:  Announcement of 8% increase in DA for government employees-pensioners: The benefit of four percent increase in DA will be given with retrospective effect from July 2022, while the additional four percent increase will be applicable from January 1, 2023.

Announcement of 8% increase in DA for government employees-pensioners Ahmedabad, 23 May. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Tuesday announced an eight per cent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) of state government employees and pensioners with retrospective effect under the Seventh Pay Commission.

A government release said that at least 9.38 lakh state government employees and pensioners covered under the Seventh Pay Commission will be benefitted by this hike.

The benefit of four percent increase in DA will be given with retrospective effect from July 2022, while the additional four percent increase will be applicable from January 1, 2023. This increase has been done as per the norms of the central government.

Since the hike is being implemented with retrospective effect, the state government will pay the outstanding amount in three instalments.

The first installment will be disbursed in June, while the second and third installments will be given in October 2023 along with the salary for that month, the release said.

According to the release, the hike in DA will put an additional burden of Rs 4,516 crore on the state exchequer.
