7th Pay Commission: Good News! Apart from DA, these allowances of central employees have increased, know the details

7th Pay Commission Latest Update The government has increased the DA hike of central employees. This increase has come into effect from January 2024. After the increase in DA, the salary of the employee has also increased. Let us tell you that along with DA, many allowances given to the employees have also increased. In this article, let us know which employee allowances have been increased.

7th Pay Commission: Be it a private job or a government job, an employee gets many types of allowances. The month of March has been a great one for central employees. Actually, in the month of March, the government has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA Hike) received by the central employees.

After this increase, the dearness allowance given to central employees has now increased to 50 percent. Apart from this, the government has also updated HRA. Apart from this, many allowances received by the employees have also increased.

The employee will get the benefit of allowance on 31st March. This allowance will be applicable from January 2024. This means that now the salary of the employee will also include two months’ allowances.

The government has increased the dearness allowance by 4 percent, after which it has become 50 percent. After the increase in DA, HRA has increased by 3,2,1 percent. Apart from this, the remaining allowances have also been increased by the government.

These allowances increased

Apart from DA, the Central Government has increased these allowances

  • House Rent Allowance (HRA)
  • Children’s Education Allowance (CAA)
  • Childcare Special Allowance
  • Hostel subsidy
  • TA on transfer
  • Gratuity Limit
  • Dress allowance
  • Mileage allowance for own transport
  • Daily Allowance

What is DA calculation?

In the year 2017, the government had implemented the 7th Pay Commission. DA was reduced to zero in 2016. Actually, whenever DA reaches 50 percent, it is reduced to zero.

The amount received in 50 percent DA is merged into the basic salary of the employee.

Understand it like this, the basic salary of an employee is Rs 18,000 and he will get Rs 9,000 in DA. Now as soon as DA becomes 50 percent of the basic salary, it is merged into the basic salary. This means that the basic salary of the employee will be revised to Rs 27,000.

When will dearness allowance be merged?

The government calculates DA twice a year. DA is increased for the first time in January and for the second time in July. Approval was received in March for January 2024. Now DA will be revised in July 2024.

Let us tell you that DA is merged with the basic salary only when the DA is 50 percent. This time the government has increased DA by 4 percent to 50 percent.

Now dearness allowance will be calculated from the AICPI index from January to June 2024. After this, 50 percent dearness allowance will be added to the basic salary of the employee.
