7th Pay Commission: Good news! Ministry of Defense increased the income limit of disabled dependents for family pension

7th Pay Commission Latest News: Ministry of Defense has decided to increase the income criteria for giving family pension to children and siblings suffering from mental or physical disability.

7th Pay Commission: The Defense Ministry on Tuesday said it has decided to increase the income criteria for grant of family pension to children and siblings with mental or physical disabilities. At present, a disabled child or sibling of a deceased pensioner is eligible for family pension, if their monthly income from sources other than family pension does not exceed Rs.9,000 along with dearness allowance component.




The Ministry of Defense said in a statement issued by the Ministry of Relief that the Ministry of Defense has decided to increase the income criteria for giving family pension to children / siblings suffering from mental or physical disability. According to which such children/siblings will be eligible for lifelong family pension, if their total income from sources other than family pension is less than the family pension entitled at the normal rate, which is 30 per cent of the last salary drawn by them. Including Dearness Relief admissible thereon along with the deceased Government servant/pensioner.

What is the current situation

The financial benefit in such cases will be applicable from February 8, 2021. At present, disabled children/siblings are eligible for family pension, if the total monthly income of the disabled child/siblings does not exceed Rs.9,000 from sources other than family pension, along with dearness relief thereon. This decision will bring great relief to them. Together it will help you to move forward in your life.




Night duty demanded the allowance

Employees on the other hand the Department of Defense has also demanded the removal of the ceiling of the night duty allowance. which is also being considered. In fact, the artificial ceiling in the Night Duty Allowance (NDA) is Rs 43,600. which is being sought to be removed. Mukesh Singh, General Secretary of All India Federation of Defense Workers and member of JCM-II Level Council (MOD), has written a letter to the Secretary, Defense Department regarding NDA. A demand has been made in the letter that the AC cost of Rs 43600 on NDA should be removed. The ceiling was imposed after the order of 13 July 2020 last year during Kovid.
