8th Pay Commission: The 8th Central Pay Commission, considered crucial for central government employees and pensioners, has now sought suggestions and memorandums from various stakeholders. The Commission has informed through its official website that employees, pensioners, unions and other stakeholders can submit their opinions through an online portal. This portal has been launched from March 5, 2026, and the last date for submitting suggestions has been fixed as April 30, 2026.
The Commission has clarified that all suggestions will be accepted only through the online portal. Paper documents, emails, or PDF files will not be considered. Therefore, any employees or organizations with demands related to salary, allowances, or other benefits must submit their proposals online within the stipulated time.
What are the details?
According to a message posted on the 8th Pay Commission’s website, central government employees (industrial and non-industrial), officers of the All India Services, personnel of the Defense Forces, employees of Union Territories, officers and employees of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department, members of regulatory bodies formed under laws of Parliament (except the RBI), employees of the Supreme Court and High Courts, judicial officers of subordinate courts, pensioners, and employee unions can submit their opinions in this process.
In addition, central government ministries, departments, organizations, union territory administrations, employee unions, researchers, and academic experts can also submit suggestions to the Commission. The Commission has already issued an 18-question questionnaire seeking feedback on issues related to pay structure, allowances, benefits, and rules. These questions must also be answered online, with deadlines until March 16, 2026.
News for over 10 million central employees and pensioners
The 8th Pay Commission is considered extremely important for over 10 million central employees and pensioners, as its recommendations will directly impact their salaries, allowances, pensions, and overall purchasing power. Therefore, employee organizations have begun preparing their proposals. According to Shivaji Vasireddy, General Secretary of the Federation of National Postal Organizations (FNPO), employee organizations are preparing to present detailed proposals to the Commission, which could be hundreds of pages long.
The government launched the official website of the 8th Pay Commission (8cpc.gov.in) in February 2026, which has now become the primary platform for all information related to the Commission. Notifications, questionnaires, recruitment circulars, and other official updates are regularly released here. The Commission’s objective is to review salaries, allowances, and other benefits and rationalize them according to current needs and the work requirements of different departments.
