The Environment Compensation Charge (ECC) included in the toll for commercial vehicles in Delhi has been increased. The MCD has hiked the rates for 2XL, 3XL, and 4XL trucks, making it more expensive to conduct business using these vehicles. Now, 2XL trucks will have to pay ₹2,000, while 3XL and 4XL trucks will be required to pay ₹4,000.
New Delhi. Conducting business using large commercial vehicles has become more expensive in the national capital, Delhi. The MCD has hiked the rates for the Environment Compensation Charge (ECC), which is levied as part of the toll for the entry of commercial vehicles. This increase specifically applies to vehicles falling under the 2-XL, 3-XL, and 4-XL categories.
According to an order issued by the Corporation, the rate for trucks falling under Category 2—which previously stood at ₹1,400—has been raised to ₹2,000. Similarly, the ECC charged for the entry of 3-XL and 4-XL trucks into Delhi, which was previously ₹2,600, has been increased to ₹4,000.
Vehicle Volume: 1,500 Per Day
Consequently, individuals engaged in businesses involving goods transported by these vehicles—such as motorcycles or Packers and Movers services—will now be required to pay higher charges. It is noteworthy that approximately 3,500 2-XL trucks enter Delhi daily, while the number of vehicles with three or four axles (3-XL and 4-XL) stands at 1,500 per day.
In Delhi, the ECC is levied to compensate for the environmental damage caused by vehicular emissions. The MCD collects this charge at various toll plazas, and the proceeds are subsequently deposited into a dedicated account held by the Delhi Government.
