LPG Price Today on April 13: Following attacks by the United States and Israel in Iran during the month of February, the Indian government hiked the rates for both domestic and commercial LPG cylinders. In fact, tensions in the Middle East—specifically Iran’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz—have disrupted fuel supplies, triggering turmoil across global energy markets, as this strait serves as a critical transit route for energy shipments.

Given that India imports approximately 60 percent of its Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and half of its natural gas requirements—with West Asian nations supplying a significant portion of these fuels—these disruptions have made the resulting pressure both tangible and immediately felt.

The Government’s Stance on LPG Supply

As of today, April 13, the prices of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinders remain stable across the country’s major cities. Following a hike of ₹60 in March, no changes were made to the prices in April. The government states that despite a significant surge in global LPG rates—driven by the conflict in Iran and supply disruptions at the Strait of Hormuz—domestic consumers are being shielded from the shocks of international price fluctuations.

The government has affirmed that the availability of cooking gas remains consistent. On average, more than 5 million cylinders are being delivered daily. Furthermore, specific measures have been implemented, including the sale of over 320,000 5-kg ‘Free Trade LPG’ cylinders to migrant workers.
