Agniveers quota: Taking a big decision for former Agniveers, the Union Home Ministry has announced 50 percent reservation for the posts of Constable (General Duty) and Rifleman in Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and Assam Rifles.
Agniveer Quota News: Taking a big decision for Ex-Agniveers, the Central Government has announced 50 percent reservation for the posts of Constable (General Duty) and Rifleman in Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and Assam Rifles. Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai gave this information in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, July 21. The government has created a new category for these posts named ‘Former Agniveer’. Under this, 50 percent of the total recruitment in every recruitment year will be reserved for former firefighters.
Not only this, many big concessions will also be given to former firefighters in the recruitment process. They will get three years relaxation in the maximum age limit. At the same time, the candidates of the first batch of Agniveers will be given additional relaxation of up to five years from the prescribed age limit.
There will be big relief in the recruitment process
According to the Home Ministry, former firefighters will also be exempted from Physical Standard Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and written examination. That means their recruitment process has been made easier than before.
‘Special wing’ created in Home Ministry
For better coordination of the future and employment opportunities of former firefighters, the Home Ministry has also established ‘Ex-Agniveer Wing’. This wing will work to coordinate their appointment and other opportunities in various security forces.
The quota was increased earlier
In December 2025, the Home Ministry had amended the recruitment rules of Border Security Force (BSF) to increase the reservation for former firefighters from 10 percent to 50 percent on constable (GD) posts. After this, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) also made a similar amendment in its recruitment manual.
First term not completed yet
The four-year tenure of the first batch of Agniveers recruited under the ‘Agneepath Yojana’ has not yet been completed. But keeping their future in mind, the government has already prepared the way for employment in Central Paramilitary Forces and Assam Rifles. The government says that the objective of this step is to provide the security forces with the benefit of the experience of former trainee firefighters and to ensure better employment opportunities for them after completion of service.
