IndiGo Airlines said in a statement that due to low visibility in Delhi, departures for some flights may be delayed. The airline advises passengers to arrive at the airport with additional time. IndiGo also said that its teams are continuously monitoring the weather conditions and are fully prepared to assist passengers.
Flight Delays
Dense fog at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport has caused significant flight disruptions since morning. Nearly 40 flights have been cancelled so far, while seven flights, both domestic and international, have been diverted to Jaipur and Ahmedabad. By 11 a.m., more than 200 flights were delayed, with several departing by 5-6 hours, including IndiGo flight 6E-33 from Delhi to Manchester.
Road Traffic Slows Down
Dense fog has also slowed down traffic on the roads. Airlines and airport authorities have advised passengers to allow more time to arrive at the airport to avoid any inconvenience.
Other airlines, including SpiceJet, have also issued warnings for passengers. SpiceJet has stated that poor visibility may impact arrivals, departures, and connecting flights. Meanwhile, due to increased fog in Delhi, approximately 50 trains in the Delhi division are running late. According to the Railways, no trains have been cancelled due to the fog.
Appeal to Passengers
Airlines and Delhi Airport have urged passengers to check their flight status before their journey and plan their travels keeping the weather in mind. As the weather improves, efforts will be made to normalize flight operations.
