Trump Gold Card: US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that America’s long-awaited “Gold Card” visa program has been launched on the website. Under this, individuals who pay $1 million will receive legal status and US citizenship. A platinum version for $5 million has also been proposed.

Trump announced the launch of the “Gold Card” visa program in the Roosevelt Room of the White House on Wednesday, while the website accepting applications was also activated. The “Gold Card” visa program replaces America’s EB-5 visa. It was established by the US Congress in 1990 to promote foreign investment and is available to those who invest approximately $1 million in a company employing at least 10 people.

What is Trump’s ‘Gold Card’ visa program?

In a post on TruthSocial, the US president described the ‘Trump Gold Card’ as a direct path to citizenship for all qualified and vetted individuals. The Republican leader views this new version of the EB-5 visa as a way to attract and retain top talent for the US, as well as generate revenue for the government. Trump has been promoting the ‘Gold Card’ visa program for months, initially suggesting it would cost $5 million but later revising it to $1 million and $2 million.

The “Gold Card” visa program is essentially a green card that provides permanent legal residence with the opportunity to obtain citizenship. “Basically, it’s a green card but much better, much more powerful, much stronger,” Trump said.

What is Donald Trump’s ‘Platinum Card’?

According to the official website, a Trump Platinum Card is also launching soon, and foreign citizens can register now to secure a spot. This card allows holders to stay in the United States for up to 270 days without paying US taxes on non-US income. However, a receipt for a $15,000 processing fee from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and a $5 million contribution are required to qualify for the Platinum Card. However, individuals who have ever paid US taxes on non-US income, such as US citizens and resident aliens, are not eligible to apply for the Trump Platinum Card.
