New ATM for Small Currency Notes: Now, to end the problem of change, the government is preparing to start new ATMs, which will dispense small currency notes of ₹10, ₹20 and ₹50.
ATM Small Currency Withdrawal: Even though the use of UPI is increasing rapidly today, the problem of change still persists. To address this issue, the Indian government is preparing to increase the availability of small currency notes. Often, when we go out for tea, pay for auto or bus fare, or shop at the local market, we find ourselves frustrated by a lack of change. However, the government’s new plan will alleviate many problems. You will also be able to withdraw small notes from ATMs.
Small notes will be readily available
The government’s aim is to ensure that people who rely on daily cash transactions and require ₹10, ₹20, and ₹50 notes have easy access to small currency notes. The government has also launched pilot projects to address this issue. One such pilot project is being conducted in Mumbai, where efforts are being made to increase the availability of small currency notes.
Where will the new ATM machines be installed?
The government plans to install these new ATM machines in high-traffic areas, where people need the most cash, such as hospitals, bus depots, railway stations, local markets, government hospitals, and offices. These new ATM machines will dispense ₹100 and ₹500 notes, as well as smaller ₹10, ₹20, and ₹50 notes.
Facility to exchange large notes for smaller ones
The government is also planning to install machines where people can easily exchange their large notes for smaller ones. Even in this era of growing UPI, many people, including small shopkeepers, travelers, street vendors, and daily wage laborers, still use cash for daily transactions. Currently, ATM machines for smaller currency notes are being trialed in Mumbai. If successful and approved, they will be implemented nationwide.
