Bangladesh Attacks On Hindu: Incidents of violence against religious minorities are continuously emerging in Bangladesh. The latest incident occurred in the Gowainghat sub-district of Sylhet district, where the house of a Hindu teacher was set on fire. This incident has deepened an atmosphere of fear and insecurity among the Hindu community living in the area. The house targeted is said to belong to Birendra Kumar Dey, a teacher known locally as “Jhunu Sir.” It is reported that unknown individuals set fire to his house at night, destroying the entire house.
The fire spread so rapidly that family members inside had to evacuate immediately. While no one was killed in the incident, the house and its contents were completely destroyed. It is not yet clear whether the fire was intentionally set or there was some other conspiracy behind it.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
A video of the incident has surfaced on social media, clearly showing the house on fire and family members fleeing. Following the video’s release, local residents, social organizations, and human rights activists have expressed outrage and demanded action against the perpetrators. This attack has once again raised questions about the security of minorities in Bangladesh. The local community says such incidents are increasing, but the lack of strict action against the perpetrators emboldens the attackers.
Much like how Hindu homes were earmarked and selectively targeted in West Bengal’s Murshidabad, another chilling, targeted attack on a Hindu family has taken place in Bangladesh.

Hindu Families Targeted
Several incidents of targeting Hindu families have been reported in various parts of Bangladesh in the past few weeks. A Hindu family’s house was burned down in Pirojpur district in late December, while the homes of migrant Hindu families were also reported to have been set on fire in the Rauzan area of Chittagong. These incidents have raised concerns about the plight of minorities across the country.
International Concern
The continued occurrence of such incidents has also raised international concern. Human rights experts believe that if concrete steps are not taken to protect minorities, the situation could worsen. All eyes are currently on how quickly and seriously the administration takes action in this matter.
