This will affect the customers of 7 banks of the country from 1 April onwards. Let us know that the old checkbook and IFSC code of many banks will not work from April 1, 2021, then contact your bank today and find out your new code, so that you do not have any problem in doing online transactions.

Know which bank has been merged,

let us tell you that on April 1, 2020, the government merged the three banks of the country, Punjab National Bank, Oriental Bank of Coors and United Bank of India. Apart from this, Dena and Vijaya Bank were merged with Bank of Baroda and are effective from 1 April 2019. Apart from this, Syndicate Bank has been merged with Canara Bank, Andhra Bank and Corporation Bank with Union Bank of India and Allahabad Bank with Indian Bank.

The account holders of Andhra Bank and Corporation Bank can now know their new IFSC codes online through the official website of the banks. For this, you have to go to the official website www.unionbankofindia.co.in. After this, you have to click on amaigamation center here. After this, you will be able to know the updated IFSC code. Apart from this, customers can call the bank’s customer care number 18002082244 or 18004251515 or 18004253555. Or you can get information through SMS. For this, you have to send the message to 9223008486 by typing IFSC .

Why an IFSC Code is needed

Changes in the IFSC code will have an impact on the account holders. However, you do not have to worry immediately. The last date for IFSC code of these branches is 31 March 2021. The bank has also informed all customers in this regard. For online transactions, you have to add the bank’s IFSC i.e. Indian Financial System Code along with the bank account number.
