Why will banks remain closed in Meghalaya?
U Tirot Singh’s death anniversary is being celebrated in Meghalaya today. Tirot Singh was a great freedom fighter of Khasi Hills. In the 19th century, he fought fiercely against the British and kept fighting to protect the motherland till the end. In this bravery and respect, the Meghalaya government recognizes this day as Remembrance Day. Therefore, all government and private banks will remain closed here today.

Online services will remain operational
If you do not need to go to the bank branch for any work, then there is no need to worry. Services like net banking, mobile banking, and UPI remain operational 24×7 even during holidays. You can transfer money, make bill payments, check account balance and do many other tasks online. If you have to deposit a cheque, make a draft, withdraw or deposit cash, then it would be better to complete these tasks before the holidays. Especially in those states where banks are going to remain closed for two or more consecutive days.
