What will remain closed today, April 14?

On the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti, most government offices across the country will remain closed. Furthermore, banks, post offices, courts, government schools and colleges, and various public sector services will be suspended. Trading will also not take place on the stock exchanges—the NSE and BSE—on this day. In several states—such as Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana—various programs, rallies, and ceremonies are organized to mark this occasion. Conversely, private companies, shops, and essential services—such as hospitals and medical stores—will remain open today, Tuesday.

List of Bank Holidays in April

Today, Tuesday, April 14, festivals such as Ambedkar Jayanti, as well as Baisakhi, Tamil New Year, Bohag Bihu, and Maha Vishu Sankranti, will be celebrated. On this day, banks will remain closed in most states across the country, including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and West Bengal.

On Wednesday, April 15, banks will remain closed in Assam, West Bengal, Tripura, Kerala, and certain other states on account of the Bengali New Year, Bohag Bihu, and Vishu.

On Thursday, April 16, banks are scheduled to remain closed in Assam once again due to Bohag Bihu.

While bank branches remain closed during these holidays, customers need not be concerned. They can continue to access digital banking services such as internet banking, UPI, mobile banking, and ATM cash withdrawals. However, for services such as cheque clearance, passbook updates, or cash deposits, customers will need to wait for the branches to reopen.
