New Delhi: The Finance Minister is now very worried about the banks. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has expressed concern over the slow progress of computerization in regional rural banks.

The government has created a portal for farmers

Inaugurating the Farmer Loan Portal and the Weather Information Network Data System (WINDS) manual, Sitharaman said a lot of work still remains to be done in the digitalization of regional rural banks and cooperative banks.

Co-operative banks often do not prosper

He said that the financial health of co-operative banks is different and they are not equally prosperous. The Ministry of Cooperation, headed by Home Minister Amit Shah, is working to increase capacity in this sector.

Cooperative banks will soon be made digital

The Finance Minister said that digitization of cooperative banks will happen very soon. However, he said that RRB, computerization and digitalization are more important for me. Therefore, phone banking or internet banking services will not work in its absence.

The Minister said that the Financial Services Department is being increasingly made aware of computerization, although a lot of work still remains. He said that the government is giving great importance to farmers and the agriculture sector in view of the lockdown imposed to prevent the economy from derailing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Agriculture Minister said that farmers’ income has increased

On this occasion, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that the government has increased the income of farmers through many measures. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has given great importance to this sector, hence the budget allocation has increased manifold since 2013-14.

Agriculture Minister raised the issue of loan

On short-term crop loans, Tomar said that there is no shortage of funds in this sector. The agricultural credit target for the current financial year has been pegged at Rs 20 lakh crore with emphasis on animal husbandry, dairy and fisheries.

Agricultural loans are usually available at nine percent interest. However, the government is offering interest subsidies to help boost agricultural production and providing short-term crop loans at affordable rates.

The government is providing two per cent interest subsidy to farmers for providing short-term agricultural loans up to Rs three lakh at an effective rate of seven per cent per annum.

Finance Minister discussed KCC

Sitharaman said that to help farmers get subsidized loans under the KCC scheme, banks should provide all the necessary data in the “Farmers Loan Portal” by December 31, 2023. He also asked Vivek Joshi, Secretary, Department of Financial Services, to provide all the data. Bank on time.

This campaign will start in October

The Finance Minister announced the KCC campaign to take the Kisan Credit Card program to every household. The campaign will start from October 1.
