Today, the Government of India will honor five eminent personalities of the country with Bharat Ratna for their incomparable contribution. Those honored included former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani, former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, P.V. Narasimha Rao, agricultural scientist M.S. The names of Swaminathan and former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur are included. Of these, except Advani, all others will be honored posthumously.
The ceremony to confer Bharat Ratna will be organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan. According to the information, due to the health of senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Lal Krishna Advani, President Draupadi Murmu will visit his residence the next day and honor him. Who is awarded Bharat Ratna?
The country’s highest honor Bharat Ratna is given for special contribution in any field like art, literature, science, public service and sports etc., which has increased the pride of the country. Before 2011, Bharat Ratna was awarded only on the basis of incomparable contribution in the fields of art, literature, science and social service, but this was amended in 2011. Now there is no area designated for this.
In the country, no amount is given to the person who receives Bharat Ratna, but he is given the honor of state guest. Whichever state he visits, he is welcomed as a state guest and is provided transportation, boarding and lodging facilities in the state. Such a particular person is invited by the Government of India to participate in important government programs. According to the rules, they get extended security and the government gives them a place in the Warrant of Presidency.
Announcement was made on social media platform
On February 3, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced to honor former Deputy Prime Minister and senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani with ‘Bharat Ratna’. While sharing a photo with Advani on social media platform I also spoke to him and congratulated him on being honored with this honour. Lal Krishna Advani is one of the most respected politicians of our times. His contribution to the development of India is unforgettable. His life starts from working at the grassroots level to serving the country as our Deputy Prime Minister. He also made his mark as our Home Minister and Information and Broadcasting Minister. His parliamentary interventions have always been exemplary and full of rich insights.
At the same time, PM Modi had also announced the award of Bharat Ratna to PV Narasimha Rao and Chaudhary Charan Singh. For PV Narasimha Rao, he wrote that ‘It is a pleasure to share that our former Prime Minister, P.V. Narasimha Rao Garu will be honored with Bharat Ratna. As a distinguished scholar and statesman, Narasimha Rao Garu served India extensively in various capacities. He is equally remembered for the work he did as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Union Minister and member of Parliament and Legislative Assembly for many years. His visionary leadership was instrumental in making India economically advanced and laying a solid foundation for the country’s prosperity and development.
While announcing the honor for Chaudhary Charan Singh, PM Modi had written on X that ‘It is the good fortune of our government that the former Prime Minister of the country Chaudhary Charan Singh is being honored with Bharat Ratna. This honor is dedicated to his incomparable contribution to the country. He had dedicated his entire life to the rights and welfare of farmers.
PM Modi met agricultural scientist M.S. Swaminathan was also announced to be honored with Bharat Ratna and wrote that ‘It is a matter of great pleasure that the Government of India is honoring M.S. Swaminathan for his remarkable contribution to agriculture and the welfare of farmers in our country. Swaminathan is being honored with Bharat Ratna. He played an important role in India gaining self-respect. Made excellent efforts towards agriculture dependence and modernizing Indian agriculture during challenging times.
On this occasion, the Central Government will also honor former Chief Minister of Bihar Karpoori Thakur with ‘Bharat Ratna’. Let us tell you that Thakur, popularly known as ‘Jananayak’, was the Chief Minister from December 1970 to June 1971 and from December 1977 to April 1979. Thakur is considered a big leader in the state who took steps in the interests of Dalits and backward classes and even today his supporters play an important role in all the political parties in the state politics.
