CSBC BPSSC Bihar Police Vacancy 2026: The Bihar Police will soon fill 37,978 new positions, ranging from constable to sub-inspector. Additionally, 10,469 sub-inspector positions will be filled through promotion. These positions will be filled by promoting current ASIs to sub-inspectors. The state government created these positions based on the need for these positions in proportion to the growing population. According to the Home Department (Police Branch), the largest number of recruitments will be for 27,510 constable and equivalent positions. Of these, 22,010 will be for constable and equivalent positions, while 5,500 will be for driver and equivalent positions. There are 20,937 sub-inspector (sub-inspector) positions. The state government has decided to fill half of these positions through promotion. Consequently, 10,468 positions will be filled through direct recruitment. The state cabinet has also approved this.
19,288 posts for the second phase of the ERSS project
The state government has created 19,288 posts for the second phase of Dial 112 under the ERSS (Emergency Response Support System). These positions range from constable to inspector. The ERSS includes 9,992 constables, 2,943 head constables, 2,353 driver constables, 694 driver head constables, 1,218 ASIs, 1,829 sub-inspectors, and 259 inspectors. Most of these positions will be filled through new recruitment.
It is noteworthy that the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission and the Central Selection Board (Constable Recruitment) are currently recruiting for approximately 25,000 posts. Half a dozen examinations are scheduled for these positions. Of these, the highest number of vacancies, 19,838, are for constables in the Bihar Police. In addition, there are 2,417 warders, 1,799 police inspectors, 1,603 prohibition constables, and 108 mobile squad constables.

New post of ASP (City Administration) created in Patna
The state government has created a new post of ASP (City Administration) in Patna. This post will function under the Urban Management Unit, established to strengthen urban governance. This will enable better coordination and oversight between the police administration, district administration, and local bodies. The Urban Management Unit encompasses the Patna Municipal Corporation and three municipal councils: Danapur Nizamat, Khagaul, and Phulwari. These areas have been divided into Patna Central, Patna East, and Patna West, and assigned to separate City ASPs.
