BSNL WiFi Calling: With the start of the new year, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has provided significant relief to its customers. The company has launched Wi-Fi Calling, or Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi), in all telecom circles across the country. This feature allows users to make and receive calls over Wi-Fi even when their mobile signal is weak.
Calls will now be easy even in areas with poor network coverage.
The biggest benefit of Wi-Fi Calling will be felt in areas where mobile network coverage is often poor. BSNL users, especially those in rural and remote areas, will now be able to call seamlessly over a stable Wi-Fi connection. If they have a BSNL Bharat Fiber or other broadband connection at home or office, they will no longer have to worry about network issues.
Calls will be made directly from the mobile dialer, without an app.
There’s no need to download any third-party app for this service. Wi-Fi Calling works directly from your phone’s default dialer, and calls are made using your existing mobile number. The special feature is that calls automatically switch between Wi-Fi and mobile networks during a call, preventing interruptions.
No additional charges, same old tariff
BSNL has clarified that customers will not be charged any extra fee for Wi-Fi Calling. Calls made via Wi-Fi will be billed like regular voice calls. This means users will be able to continue calling as per their existing plan, without any additional cost.
Which mobile phones will offer this feature?
Wi-Fi Calling is supported on most new and modern smartphones. Users simply need to enable the Wi-Fi Calling option in their phone settings. If there are any concerns about a device, BSNL advises customers to contact their nearest service center or helpline.
BSNL’s major step towards network upgrade
The nationwide launch of Wi-Fi Calling is considered part of BSNL’s network modernization initiative. Its aim is to provide better connectivity even in areas where mobile network connectivity has been a major challenge. This move will not only provide relief to customers but is also expected to reduce the pressure on the mobile network.
