7. Further investment in 5 major fishing centers Finance Minister Sitharaman proposed substantial investment in the development of fishing and fishing centers. The Finance Minister said that 5 major fishing centers – Kochi, Chennai, Visakhapatnam, Paradip, and Petuaghat – will be developed as economic activity centers. Finance Minister Sitharaman also proposed to develop fishing centers in their waters and fishing centers in river banks and water areas.

Agricultural Infra cess on Petrol and Diesel impact consumers Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the introduction of agri cess on petrol and diesel in the budget. He announced an agri cess (agricultural cess) of Rs 2.5 per liter on petrol and Rs 4 per liter on diesel. The reason for this is that the more agri cess they have imposed on these two products, the less they are in their excise duty. Because of this their prices will not increase.
