For some time now, the process for those aspiring to travel to Canada has been becoming increasingly difficult. However, the waiting time for Canadian visas has now declined. This comes as welcome news for applicants planning to travel to Canada. According to the latest data released by Canada’s immigration agency, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), a reduction in visa processing times has been recorded across several categories, benefiting applicants from various countries, including India.
The most significant improvement has been observed in the Visitor Visa and Study Permit categories for Indian applicants. The processing time for Visitor Visa applications submitted from India has dropped from approximately 37 days to just 23 days; this means that Indian travelers are now more likely to receive their visas about two weeks sooner than before.
India has also received relief in the case of Study Permits, where the processing time has decreased from 4 weeks to 3 weeks. This will help students planning to pursue their studies in Canada receive a decision on their applications more quickly.
However, the picture within the Work Permit category has been somewhat mixed. While the processing time for work permit applications from India has increased from 7 to 8 weeks, improvements have also been observed in several areas when compared to other countries.
Regarding other nations, the most significant improvement in work permit processing times was observed for Pakistan, where the duration dropped from 29 weeks to 16 weeks. Meanwhile, work permit applications from the United States are now being processed in 7 weeks, down from 8 weeks.
Applicants from the United States and Nigeria have also found relief in the Study Permit category, where processing times have decreased by one week each. Conversely, the processing time for study permits from Pakistan has increased slightly.
Improvements have also been noted for several countries within the Super Visa category. For India, the processing time has decreased from 202 days to 182 days; for the United States, it dropped from 185 days to 164 days; and for Pakistan, it fell from 122 days to 107 days. A decline in processing times was also recorded for applicants from Nigeria and the Philippines.
Overall, the new data indicates that Canada’s visa processing has accelerated in certain categories; specifically, there has been a distinct reduction in processing times for Indian applicants seeking Visitor and Study Visas.
