The CBSE Board has revoked the recognition of Neerja Modi School in Jaipur. On November 1st, a fourth-grade student at the same school committed suicide by jumping from the fourth floor. Following this, the student’s parents filed a complaint demanding action against the school. But now the question is, what will happen to the students studying at the school with board exams approaching? Let’s find out…

Fourth-grade student Amaira committed suicide. Following this incident, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken a major and strict action. However, the CBSE has made it clear that special arrangements have been made to ensure that no student’s studies are disrupted.

Regarding students in grades 10 and 12, the board has stated that they have no need to worry. These students will be able to take their board exams from the same school in February-March 2026. Their school code, exam center, and all necessary arrangements will remain the same.

Admission will not be granted

According to media reports, students studying in grades 9 and 11 will not be promoted to the next grade, i.e., 10 or 12, from the same school. Such students will have to enroll in another CBSE-affiliated school by March 31, 2026. However, the board has stated that these children will be able to easily find places in nearby schools. Neerja Modi School will not admit any new students.

The state government will decide

Parents are also concerned about children studying in lower grades, i.e., from 1 to 8. Their education will now be governed by the Rajasthan Education Department’s regulations. The state government will decide whether the school will continue these classes or transfer the children to nearby government or private schools.

Flaws Found

According to the board’s report, the school lacked sufficient CCTV cameras, making it difficult to monitor. Safety net railings and other facilities on the upper floors were inadequate. The school’s counselling system was also not working well regarding the mental health of the students.

Expressing gratitude to the Board

The CBSE has taken action against Neerja Modi School. Amyra’s family expressed gratitude to the Board. Amyra’s maternal uncle, Sahil, said, “We thank the CBSE for taking action against the school. CBSE is the first institution to take action in this entire matter.” He also said that accreditation for classes 1 to 8 falls under the Rajasthan Education Department. If a school is not safe for children in classes 9 to 12, it cannot be safe for children in classes 1 to 8 either. Therefore, the Education Department must take concrete action in this matter.
