Check your (ITR )Income tax return processing status

If you do not remember whether you have  e-filed your return for a particular year or, have sent your ITR-V to CPC for processing, you can follow a simple procedure.  Electronic Verification Code  (EVC) is now introduced, earlier it was compulsory to send your  ITR-V to CPC, Bangalore. . How to check the status of your return filed? Follow the steps given below:

Step 1: Go to  www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. There is no need to login. Just click on “ITR-V status” given on left side of the Home Page.

Step  2:  Now, on the next screen, enter your PAN number and the e-filing acknowledgement number of your ITR-V of the concerned assessment year, whose status you wan to know.  Then , type the Capcha code i.e  system generated image given for security .

Step 3- Lastly, click on ‘Submit” Button and you will get to know the status of your return for the concerned Assessment Year.

In  case you see, “ITR-V not received” on your screen, it means you have failed to sent it and will have to e-verify your return using EVC or physically sending your ITR-V to CPC, Bangalore. In case you see the message “ITR-V received” , no need to do any further processing. And if you have  not filed your return at all for that assessment year, it will show  “ No E-Return has been filed for this Pan and Assessment Year or e-filing Acknowledgement number ”.
