DA Increase: Big news for employees, announcement of 4% DA increase on Dussehra

Good news has come for lakhs of railway employees. Railway Board has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) of railway employees by 4%. Now dearness allowance of railway employees has increased from 42 to 46 percent.

Modi government has recently announced to increase the dearness allowance (DA) of central employees by 4%. Now good news has come for lakhs of railway employees. Railway Board has increased the dearness allowance (DA) of its employees by 4%. Railway Board has increased the dearness allowance from 42% to 46%. The increased dearness allowance will be effective from July 1, 2023. Employees will get the arrears from July till now along with increased dearness allowance in the next month’s salary. The Union Cabinet under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently announced 78 days bonus for railway employees.

Dearness allowance increased from 42% to 46%

Railway Board has written to the General Managers and Chief Administrative Officers of All India Railways and Production Units, saying that it gives great pleasure to take the decision to increase the dearness allowance payable to Railway employees from the existing 42% of the basic pay. It has been reduced to 46%, which will be considered effective from July 1, 2023. This announcement by the Railway Board comes five days after the Union Cabinet approved a bonus of about Rs 15,000 crore, which also includes a four percent increase in DA for government employees.

Employee unions welcomed the decision

Railway employee unions have welcomed this announcement ahead of Diwali. Shiv Gopal Mishra, General Secretary of All India Railway Men’s Federation, has said that the employees were to get DA from July, hence it was the right of the employees to get it. I welcome the decision to announce its payment before Diwali. M Raghavaiah, general secretary of the National Federation of Indian Railway Men, said that DA is paid on the basis of consumer price index and its purpose is not to impact (employees) with inflation.
