Delhi: Maulvi arrested for raping minor, court sent to jail for 14 days in judicial custody

A 48-year-old cleric has been arrested by the police for raping a minor girl who went to get water at a mosque in North-East Delhi. Police said that this incident happened on Sunday evening. The girl returned home and narrated the whole incident to her parents. According to the police, after counseling the girl was taken for medical examination.

The girl’s parents have lodged a complaint with the police that their daughter had gone to the mosque to fetch water, where the cleric allegedly raped her. A senior police officer said that relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and POCSO Act have been imposed on the accused. On Monday morning, the cleric was arrested from Loni in Ghaziabad.

According to the police officer, the cleric was produced in the court, from where he has been sent to 14-day judicial custody. Maulvi is a resident of Bharatpur in Rajasthan. According to the police, policemen have been deployed around the mosque as locals had reached there to protest. On the other hand, in Jagadgirigutta, Hyderabad, a visually challenged man raped his 13-year-old niece repeatedly for months. The matter came to light when the victim complained of abdominal pain and was found pregnant after investigation.

A minor girl living in Hyderabad recently complained of stomach ache, when her family members took her to the hospital where doctors found that the girl was 5 months pregnant. When the police questioned the girl, it was found that for the past several months, the girl’s blind uncle was sexually assaulting her at his house in Jagadgirigutta.
