Digital India: Original certificate is not necessary to get passport now, the facility of Digi Locker platform has started

It is now easier to get a passport in Digital India. The Ministry of External Affairs has started the DigiLocker Platform (DigiLocker Platform) service. With this service, applicants will no longer need to take the original documents to the Passport Office.

Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs has started the Digi Locker platform for Passport Seva Program. With the introduction of this facility, passport makers will not have to show all the original documents at the time of application. The whole process has been made easier through the Digi Locker program.




Increase in the number of passport makers

According to the Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan, the Passport Seva Program is a major change in the expansion of passport services in the country. This will give great convenience to passport makers. According to the Foreign Ministry, the number of passport makers has increased in the last 6 years. The number of people applying for passports is increasing every month. For the first time in 2017, more than 10 lakh people applied in a month.

For the convenience of the citizens, the Ministry of External Affairs has made several important changes. On the one hand the passport rules have been greatly simplified; on the other hand, arrangements have been made to have passports near their home too. Passport Seva Kendras have been started in major post offices. According to the data, 426 Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSK) have been operationalized and many more are coming soon. Currently, passports are being made from 426 Post Office Passport Seva Kendras with 36 Passport Offices and 93 existing Passport Seva Kendras. In this way, passports are being made from a total of 555 places to make passports in the country.

Work is going on on e-passport also

In order to increase the safety of citizens during the Corona period, the process of making e-passports in the country is also going on. Soon e-passport facility will be introduced. Apart from this, the information will be further protected through e-passport. Every service is being digitalized under the Digital India Mission, which is giving people the convenience of sitting at home.
