DigiYatra Facility Is Available At The Airport, Air Travel Without Boarding Pass, Know How To Register

Ministry of Civil Aviation launched DigiYatra service which now allows air travelers to board flights using Face ID. Here’s how to enroll for DigiYatra and create a Face ID. See the complete step by step process here.

If it is said that now you will not need to carry boarding pass to travel by air, then you will be surprised. Ministry of Civil Aviation has launched a new Face ID boarding facility at select airports. That is, now the paper boarding pass will not be needed here. It has been named DigiYatra. It is believed that this new facility will usher in paperless and hassle free travel. Air travelers will have to enroll on the DigiYatra app, create their ID and save their biometric details. The saved data will be used to automatically process passenger information at the airport during check-in, security screening and boarding.

Notably, the Face ID check-in facility has been deployed in phases for domestic flights and is currently available in Delhi, Bengaluru and Varanasi. Later by March 2023 it will be established in Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune and Vijayawada. Government will launch DigiYatra facility at more airports in subsequent months.

If you too are planning to travel by air through airports with DigiYatra, here is a step-by-step guide to enroll for the new e-service and fly using your Face ID.

How to create your Face ID in DigiYatra App

1. Download the DigiYatra app by DigiYatra Foundation on your Android or iOS smartphone.

2. Now register in the app using the mobile number linked with your Aadhaar.

3. Enter the OTP received on the registered mobile number to verify.

4. Thereafter link your ID credentials using DigiLocker or offline Aadhaar option.

5. The app will next ask you to take a selfie picture. Take a clear selfie and upload it in the app to verify your facial ID linked with Aadhaar.

6. Following the process, if you are traveling and have your flight details, update your boarding pass information in the app, which you will need to share during the departure process at the airport.

The thing to note is that after creating the DigiYatra ID, you will have to visit the registration kiosk at the airport to verify the ID. If you have submitted Aadhaar details, the verification will be done online as Aadhaar card already contains biometric information.

However, if you have shared any other ID then CISF will verify it manually. Once the details are verified, your details will be added to the DigiYatra app for future travel.
