e-RUPI will help in getting corona vaccine in private hospitals of the poor, know the whole process

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the digital payment solution e-Rupi (e-RUPI) on 2 August 2021. It is a Person and Purpose Specific Digital Payment Solution. After launching the e-rupee, PM Modi said that this digital payment solution will help the poor to get the corona vaccine.

Let us tell you that in June 2021, the central government had fixed the fee for vaccination in private hospitals. After this, the government had said that private hospitals would also bring e-vouchers to ensure the vaccination of the poor. E-Rupee is the same electronic voucher.

QR code or SMS will be scanned

Anyone can issue e-rupee to any poor person. This non-transferable e-voucher can be used by the same beneficiary for whom it has been issued. The e-rupee will be sent to the beneficiary’s mobile. This will be in the form of QR code or SMS code. They will be scanned at private vaccination centers.

A code will be sent to the beneficiary’s mobile number for verification. On verification, the voucher will be redeemed and payment will be made. Corporates can use it to help a poor get a vaccine at a private center. Government entities or any service provider can generate e-rupee vouchers with the help of their partner banks.

Can be used for many services

E-Rupee is a cashless and contactless means of digital payment. It is a QR code or SMS string-based e-voucher, which is delivered to the mobile of the beneficiaries. It has been developed by National Payments Corporation of India in association with Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, partner banks and National Health Authority.


E-Rupee can also be used to provide services under schemes like providing medicine and nutritional assistance under maternal and child welfare schemes, TB eradication programmes, drugs and diagnostics under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, fertilizer subsidy. could. Even the private sector can avail these digital vouchers as part of their employee welfare and corporate social responsibility programmes.
