Electricity bill discount: Madhya Pradesh Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company is going to provide a facility to the consumers of 16 districts of its working area. The company has decided that an opportunity will be provided to provide rebate on the lines of Lok Adalat in the cases pending under Section 126. For this, consumers have been given the facility to apply online or offline. Applications will be accepted from December 1 to December 31.

The company said that for online application, the consumer will have to go to the consumer company portal and submit the application by clicking on “Rebate As lokadalat in section 126” in the displayed quick link tab. On entering the consumer ID on the company’s portal.mpcz.in portal, the pending case registered under Section 126 will be displayed to the consumer.

Section 126 exemption will be granted on the lines of the Lok Adalat.

To receive exemption under Section 126, similar to the Lok Adalat, consumers must verify and submit that there is no outstanding electricity bill against the connection at the consumer’s premises or other premises, and that no appeal on the matter is pending or decided before the Appellate Authority constituted under Section 127 or any other court. Consumers can then select the online payment option and make the payment.

The company stated that pending cases under Section 126 of the Electricity Act, 2003, will be resolved during the Lok Adalat month itself, providing rebates similar to those in the Lok Adalat. Subject to the established criteria, as per the Lok Adalat process, applications for pending cases involving civil liability up to ₹10 lakh in domestic, agricultural, non-domestic up to 5 kilowatts, and industrial up to 10 horsepower will be submitted to the respective Deputy General Manager.

Rebates will be determined for consumers as follows:

A 20% rebate will be granted on the assessed amount, and in case of default in payment of the assessed amount, a 100% rebate will be granted on the interest charged at the rate of 16% compound interest every six months after the expiry of 30 days from the date of issuance of the assessment order. Provided that no appeal is pending before the Appellate Authority constituted under Section 127 or in the High Court.

In this situation, an application must be made at the electricity distribution center.

The company stated that under Section 126 of the Electricity Act 2003, if multiple cases are filed against a single connection, a lump sum payment must be made for all cases. If multiple cases are filed against a single connection under Section 126 of the Electricity Act 2003, the consumer must contact the distribution center/zone and apply.
