Netbanking has made it easier for electricity consumers to pay their bills. The process for paying through RTGS and NEFT has been simplified. Consumers can simply enter the prefix code “MAVVNL” before their account number to make payments, which will simultaneously update their billing system and RTGS.

Updated with Virtual Account ID

This system has been implemented to alleviate the difficulties consumers face in paying bills through RTGS. The UPPCL account ID will be used as a virtual bank account. To obtain a virtual bank account number, consumers will need to enter the six-digit prefix code of Madhyanchal Discom, ‘MAVVNL’, before their 10-digit electricity consumer account number.

In this way, the 10-digit consumer account number combined with the six-digit prefix code will form a 16-digit virtual account number. Consumers can make payments online through RTGS or NEFT using this 16-digit virtual account number and ICICI Bank IFSC code. Similarly, the prefix codes for Paschimanchal, Purvanchal, Dakshinanchal, and KESCO will also need to be entered.

Ending the hassle of sending UTRs

According to Madhyanchal Discom officials, this new system will automate billing. The amount paid will automatically be updated in the billing system. The biggest benefit of this process will be that consumers will no longer need to update their payments in the billing system by submitting a separate UTR number. Simultaneous updates between the RTGS and billing systems will save consumers time and eliminate the need for manual entry.

Payment receipts will be received via email and mobile.

According to department officials, if bills are paid via RTGS, the consumer’s RTGS and billing systems will be updated simultaneously. After payment, consumers will receive a receipt via SMS to their registered email address and mobile number. Additionally, the receipt can be viewed on uppclonline.com.
