UP Employees Salary: Good news for government employees in Uttar Pradesh. Schools and offices affiliated with basic and secondary education have been ordered to disburse salaries and honorariums before Holi. The UP government has issued an order that salaries and pensions for February 2026 be released by February 28, 2026. Normally made in the first week of March, this time, due to the Holi holidays, this payment will be delayed until the last day of February. This means that millions of government employees in Uttar Pradesh will receive their salaries this week.
On Wednesday (February 25), official orders were issued by Director General of School Education, Monika Rani. It is expected that similar orders will be issued in other departments soon. The Director General of School Education has issued strict instructions to officials in the Basic and Secondary Education Departments to release the salaries of all officers, teachers, and employees working under them before March 2, at all costs.
According to the instructions issued by the Finance Department, there is a government holiday on March 2, 2026, for Holika Dahan, and on March 4, for Holi. Additionally, since March 1st was a Sunday (a general holiday), the regular process of releasing salaries and pensions could have been disrupted. To ensure employees don’t face any inconvenience with holiday shopping and other expenses, the government, after obtaining the Governor’s approval, has decided to offer Holi gifts this time.
These orders have also been issued for employees of the Midday Meal Authority and Directorate. Furthermore, the Uttar Pradesh government has directed all district magistrates and treasury officers to ensure immediate compliance with this order so that salaries reach bank accounts before Holi. There are currently approximately 1.8 million government employees in Uttar Pradesh. All of these employees are awaiting their salaries before Holi.
Holi, the colorful festival of colors, will be celebrated with great enthusiasm across India and the world in March 2026. Considered the second largest Hindu festival after Diwali, Holi symbolizes the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil. Holika Dahan is performed after sunset during the auspicious time, while Rangwali Holi is celebrated with colors the following morning.
