EPFO claim settlement rules change! Now nominee will get PF amount even without Aadhaar details, check new rules immediately

Aadhaar News: In case of deaths of EPF members, regional authorities were facing many difficulties in linking and verifying their Aadhaar details. There was a delay in making payment to the nominee.

Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has made a major change in the rules of claim settlement. The organization has provided relief in cases where the EPFO member has passed away and his Aadhaar is not linked with the PF account or the information is not matching. Now their nominees will be able to get the amount from their PF account even without Aadhaar details.

EPFO has recently issued a circular in this regard. According to EPFO, in case of death of EPF members, the regional authorities were facing various difficulties in linking and verifying their Aadhaar details. In such a situation, there was a delay in making payment to the nominee of the EPF member.

Regional officers will give approval

According to EPFO, since Aadhaar details cannot be corrected after the death of the member, claim verification has now been approved on physical basis without linking Aadhaar in all death cases. This can be done only after the permission of the regional officer. Not only this, to prevent fraud in such cases, the membership of the deceased and the claimants will also be investigated.

The rules will apply here

These rules will be applicable to cases where the member’s details are correct in the EPF UAN, but incorrect in the Aadhaar data. At the same time, if the details are correct in Aadhaar but wrong in UAN, then the nominee will have to complete a separate process for this.

Nominee will be allowed to submit Aadhaar

If a member dies without entering the Aadhaar details, the Aadhaar details of the nominee will be saved in the system and he will be allowed to sign. Whereas, in cases where the deceased member has not made a nominee, any one of the family members and legal heirs will be allowed to submit their Aadhaar.

There used to be problems here

1. Incorrect details in Aadhaar or technical problems in Aadhaar

2. Deactivation of Aadhaar number

3. Aadhaar not matching with details entered in UAN
