Charging points for electric vehicles have been completed at Jewar Airport. In the first phase, 19 charging points have been installed on the landside and 47 on the airside. Both locations will be able to charge 98 vehicles at a time.
The first phase of Jewar Airport’s construction, covering 1334 hectares, has been completed. All passenger amenities have been established. The highest aerodrome license for commercial flights has been obtained from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The airport is set to open this month. The airside, the part of the airport where entry is permitted only after security checks and where aircraft-related activities take place, includes taxiways, the area near aircraft, and the aircraft parking area. The landside, the area where passengers can enter and exit without security, has been renovated. Charging stations have been installed here. Under the zero-carbon policy, only electric vehicles will be used at the airport. These include heavy rollers for runway maintenance, heavy-duty vehicles, and tractors.
An MRO hub will be built on 40 acres of the airport campus.
Forty-seven charging points have been created on the airside, allowing for 60 vehicles to be charged simultaneously. Meanwhile, 19 charging points have been installed on the landside, i.e., in the passenger parking area and other areas. A total of 38 vehicles can be charged here at a time. Yamuna International Airport Limited (YAPL) has developed this facility on the airport campus in collaboration with Static Company, which will be available for use from the airport’s first day of operation. The MRO hub will be built on 40 acres of the airport campus. Construction work is expected to begin soon. YAPL recently partnered with Akasa Air to develop this facility.
Parking at GTC also ready
Parking for approximately 1,200 vehicles has been completed at the airport’s Ground Transportation Center (GTC). Additionally, the taxiway has been completed. The GTC has been developed on a 20-acre site beneath the terminal on the airport campus. Cabs, taxis, and buses can be parked here. For passenger convenience, Yapl has signed agreements with Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Delhi Transport Corporation, and several companies, including Ola, Uber, Rapido, and Mahindra Tech, for cab services.
Amenities Completed
A spokesperson for Yamuna International Airport Limited stated that all passenger amenities at Noida Airport have been completed. Everything from parking to charging points is ready. Now, necessary steps are being taken to operationalize the airport.
