The highly-anticipated Extraction 2 is all set to release this year. The movie will be a sequel to 2020’s Netflix blockbuster Extraction, with lead actor Chris Hemsworth reprising the role of Tyler Rake, a mercenary for hire, as he takes on a drug lord to save a kidnapped child. The plot of Extraction 2 is expected to pick up where the first movie left off, with Tyler Rake being alive and on the run. Extraction 2 release date
The official release date of Extraction 2 is June 16th on Netflix. This was confirmed by Netflix earlier this year, putting all rumours to rest. This puts a gap of more than three years between the two movies, as the original Extraction was released way back on April 24th, 2020. The movie was a massive hit on Netflix and had over 99 million views in its first four weeks of the premiere. This has resulted in massive hype for the sequel.
Extraction 2 alleged cast
According to several reports, the majority of the lead cast will reprise its original roles in the sequel to the Netflix action thriller. Obviously, there is Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, a former SASR operator turned black ops mercenary, who will be back in another adventure. Then, there is Golshifteh Farahani as Nik Kahn, a mercenary and partner of Tyler, and Adam Bessa as Yaz Kahn, a member of Nik’s crew. Olga Kurylenko is expected to come back as Mia, while Tinatin Dalakishvili will be back as Ketevan, Andro Jafaridze as Sandro, and Miriam and Marta Kovziashvili as Nina.
Extraction 2 trailer: has it been released?
While Netflix has confirmed the second part of the superhit action thriller, Extraction 2 trailer is yet to be released. Since the movie is releasing in another two months, we can expect the official trailer to come out on YouTube in the next few weeks, likely around mid-May 2023.
That said, Netflix has released the official teaser trailer for the upcoming movie. This 123-second clip shows Chris Hemsworth back in action as he starts off by fighting some deadly fighters in what seems like a protest. He is then hit on the back by someone with him having flashbacks to his trauma from the first movie.
He then fights back the riot police and the numerous miscreants in the crowd. The clip ends with a high-octane scene of him bombarding a helicopter with bullets. The movie has been produced by Avengers: Endgame creators, Joe and Anthony Russo.
Extraction 2: what to expect?
Now that we have the teaser trailer of the film, we have a decent idea of what to expect from Extraction 2 on Netflix.
It is likely that Extraction 2 will continue from where the first movie left off. To recall, the first movie ends with Rake, the lead character, almost dying from an attack only to come back for his next mission. The new mission was hinted to revolve around Rake and Gasper, from the time they spent together when they were teammates. The first film followed the character Tyler Rake (played by Chris Hemsworth), a black-market mercenary who is hired to rescue the son of an international crime lord.
Most definitely, because the first movie was an action-packed thriller with intense fight scenes and stunning cinematography, it is safe to assume that Extraction 2 will also be full of action and excitement. It will be packed with life-threatening sequences, which will make the experience more thrilling.

As mentioned, Extraction is the story of Tyler Rake, a black-market mercenary hired to rescue the son of an international crime lord, Ovi. from a rival drug lord.
The movie shows Rake and his team of equally competent assassins arriving in Dhaka, Bangladesh in an attempt to find and rescue Ovi. But as the cliche has it, they soon find themselves in the middle of a dangerous and chaotic situation, where they are left with limited options. They are pursued by both the rival drug lord’s army and the Bangladeshi police, who are determined to kill and stop them.
As they make their way through the capital city, Rake and Ovi form a bond and develop a relationship that goes beyond the bounds of their initial mission. The movie is full of intense and thrilling action scenes, with Rake fighting off dozens of enemies and putting his life on the line to protect Ovi.
In the end, Rake is able to rescue Ovi and bring him back to safety, but not without facing some tragic losses along the way. The movie ends with Rake’s fate left uncertain, as he falls off a bridge and into a river after being shot. But hints are given as to his being alive in the end.
