FASTag Annual Pass has been started across the country from 15th August. This means that now if a vehicle passes through the highway using this pass, it will not have to pay toll separately for up to 200 trips in a year. For this, a lump sum of Rs. 3000 will have to be paid in advance.

Where will the annual pass be valid

Starting from August 15, this Fastag annual pass will be valid only on highways, expressways and roads operated by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). This means that this pass will not be applicable on any state highway, state government roads or private toll roads.

Is a separate pass required on state highways or not?

Many people have this question in their minds that whether they will have to get a separate pass to travel on state highways now, because the annual pass will not work there. So the answer is – no. There is no need to get a separate pass for this.

Actually, the annual pass will be directly linked to the Fastag installed in your vehicle. That is, if you travel on the NHAI highway, then the annual pass will be applicable there and the toll will not be deducted. But as soon as you come on the state highway, the toll there will be deducted from your normal Fastag balance.

How will toll be deducted on state highways

If you travel on NHAI highways and go to state highways in between, the toll there will be automatically deducted from your Fastag. Therefore, it is important that there is always sufficient balance in your Fastag wallet.

Under whose control are the state highways

The system of toll collection on state highways is in the hands of the state government or private operators. It does not come under NHAI or the Ministry of Road Transport. That is why the annual pass is not applicable there.

Keep your Fastag recharged

It is clear that the annual Fastag pass is valid only on NHAI highways and expressways. There is no need to get a separate pass for this on state highways. Payment will be made through normal Fastag there, just keep in mind that there should be balance in it.
