Flights Cancelled: Tensions continue to escalate in West Asia. Meanwhile, Air India canceled all of its Dubai flights on Monday. However, Air India Express flights to Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, and Sharjah will continue as usual.

Air India wrote on X, “Flight operations suspended in Dubai. Dubai International Airport has temporarily suspended all flight services to and from the airport. Due to this, Air India and Air India Express flights to and from Dubai have been cancelled for today…”

A flight turned back on Monday

An Emirates flight from Thiruvananthapuram to Dubai turned back on Monday after receiving information about a security incident at its destination airport. Emirates flight TRV-DXB turned back mid-air after Dubai International Airport was closed. The plane landed at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. The flight, carrying 353 passengers and 19 crew members, departed at 4:40 a.m. and returned at 8:40 a.m., officials said. Passengers will be transferred to the terminal.

Earlier, another Emirates flight, EK533, which departed from Cochin International Airport at 4:30 a.m. with 325 people on board, turned back and landed at Kochi Airport due to the sudden closure of Dubai International Airport.

Why the flight was canceled?

A fire broke out near Dubai International Airport due to a drone-related incident. Several roads have been temporarily closed as a safety measure following the attack. Dubai Police stated that Airport Road and the Airport Tunnel have been closed for the time being. Motorists have been urged to use alternative routes. According to officials, emergency relief and rescue operations are underway in the area, so traffic has been diverted.
