PM Ujjwala Yojana 3.0: The government runs various schemes for the people of the country, which directly benefit millions of citizens. These schemes aim to simplify the lives of the common man, reduce their expenses, and provide basic amenities at home. Schemes specifically for women, the poor, and the underprivileged have been a major driver of social change.

In this context, a significant kitchen-related scheme is once again in the news. The central and state governments are working together to promote the provision of gas connections to poor and needy people across the country, providing relief from smoke and improving their health. Now, in this direction, the Manipur government has taken a major decision under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana Phase 3.0, which will directly benefit thousands of families.

Ujjwala Yojana Phase 3.0 Announced in Manipur

The Department of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution of the Manipur government has announced free LPG connections to women under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana Phase 3.0. This initiative is part of the initiative to provide 2.5 million additional free LPG connections announced by the central government.

The scheme aims to empower women, improve their health, and make cooking safer. Women are the most affected by the smoke generated by cooking with wood and cow dung cakes. Getting an LPG connection will not only improve their health but also save time.

These women will benefit

The eligibility criteria and documentation for the Ujjwala Yojana Phase 3.0 have been simplified. According to Rajjyoti Das, Divisional LPG Sales Head at Indane Divisional Office, Silchar, many families in rural and difficult hilly areas were previously excluded from the scheme.

The focus of the new phase is to reach these families. The government has set a target of providing 2.5 million free LPG connections in 2025-26. Eligible families have been urged to take advantage of this scheme. The adoption of clean and safe fuel will significantly reduce kitchen-related problems.

So far, so many women across the country have benefited

Under the Ujjwala Yojana in Manipur, 222,010 free LPG connections have been provided. According to K. Bono Singh, Director of the Consumer Affairs Department, Phase 3.0 aims to reach families who have not yet received a connection. District Ujjwala Committees have been formed to make the scheme transparent. The scheme was launched nationwide in May 2016. Under Phase 1 and Phase 2, more than 103.3 million women have received free LPG connections so far.
