PPSRDA said in a statement that the provision of NPS digital travel to online e – KYC (Know Your Customer) subscribers will further facilitate the account opening process.

The National Pension System (NPS) and the Atal Pension Scheme (APY) are the two main schemes of the PFRDA. The National Pension System provides for organized sector employees. APS is primarily aimed at meeting the retirement needs of those working in the informal sector.

PPSRDA said in a statement that the provision of NPS digital travel to online e – KYC ( Know Your Customer ) subscribers will further facilitate the account opening process .




According to PFRDA, it has enabled various digital operators such as OTP-based authentication, paperless boarding, e-identity based authentication, video customer identification for remote on-boarding facility, online exit tools, and online registration for public sector subscribers.

NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure Ltd., the regulator, was allowed to act as a global resource user agency (AUA) for the purpose of the National Pension System (NPS) and the Atal Pension Scheme ( APY ) .

Who can open a National Pension System (NPS) account?

Any individual citizen of India (citizens and non-citizens) aged 18-65 can join NPS. However, although opening multiple NPS accounts per person is not allowed under NPS, an individual can have one account in NPS and another in Atal Pension Yojana.

Any individual citizen of India (citizens and non-citizens) aged 18-65 years (as on date of submission of NPS application) can join the National Pension System (NPS).




The National Pension System account can only be opened on an individual basis and cannot be opened or operated jointly or on behalf of the HUF.

Who can open Atal Pension Yojna account?

Any Indian citizen between the ages of 18-40 can have an APY bank account. APY is a government program administered by PFRDA through the NPS Framework. Minimum age to join APY is 18 years and maximum age is 40 years. Therefore, the minimum contribution period of the subscriber under APY will be 20 years or more.
