A new initiative is being taken towards increasing the voting percentage, under which after voting on May 25, people will get free two-wheeler facility to reach their homes. For this, an agreement was reached on Thursday between Delhi Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) P. Krishnamurthy and officials of bike ride-sharing company Rapido.
Information has been given by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer that Rapido has about eight lakh bikes in Delhi, which will help in dropping people from the booth to their homes on the day of voting. The company can also use its bikes available in other cities adjacent to Delhi in the capital on the day of voting, so that the voters can easily get bikes to go home.
The Chief Electoral Officer says, our effort is to increase the voting percentage in Delhi, for which efforts are being made at all levels, which also includes efforts to provide Rapido bike service.
There was also a plan to bring voters earlier: It is being told that earlier the CEO office wanted to provide the facility of bringing voters from home to the polling station and then dropping them from the polling station to their home. Some officials argued that while taking the voter from home to the polling station, an attempt can be made by any party, candidate and their supporters to influence the voter in any way to vote in their favor. Therefore, after voting, the bike Facility should be provided, after consensus on which the final decision has been taken.
On the other hand, the Election Commission has also started talks with other bike companies, so that voters do not have to face inconvenience.
Voters will have to book themselves
According to the Election Commission, after casting the vote, the voter will have to book a bike from the polling station through the Rapido app. For this, the voter will not have to pay any fee to reach home.
