Government employees: Good News! Now special facility up to 1.3 lakh will be available, such benefits can be availed, guidelines issued by the ministry

The office memorandum states that it may be Rs 1 lakh plus taxes. However, in the case of equipment with more than 40% make-in-India components, this limit will be Rs 1.30 lakh plus taxes.

Government Employees: There is good news for central employees. Before the upcoming dearness allowance increase, the Modi government at the center has given a big gift to the officers. Now central government officials will be eligible to own mobile laptops or similar devices worth up to Rs 1.3 lakh, not only that they will be able to retain these devices for personal use after four years. The Department of Expenditure of the Finance Ministry has issued guidelines in this regard through an office memorandum.

In this way you will get the benefit of phone-laptop up to 1.3 lakh

According to the memorandum issued by the Department of Expenditure of the Ministry of Finance, all officers of the level of Deputy Secretary and above of the Central Government will be eligible to get such electronic equipment, they can take mobile, laptop, tablet, phablet, notebook, notepad, ultra-book, net-book or other equipment worth up to 1.3 lakh for their work, this does not include taxes. In the case of Section Officers and Under Secretaries, 50 per cent of the officers may be issued such devices. For appliances that use more than 40% Make-in-India components, the limit is Rs 1.30 lakh, exclusive of taxes.

All data has to be cleared first

It further states that if a device is already allotted to an officer in a Ministry/Department, he cannot be issued a new device for four years but after that he can take it and retain it. The Ministry/Department concerned will have to ensure that the device is wiped of all data before it is handed over to the officer for retention. This O.M. dated July 21, 2023 would supersede the order dated March 27, 2020, which fixed the cost of such equipment at Rs 80,000 and made no provision for retaining the equipment for personal use.
