Government made a big announcement for the farmers cultivating coconut, there will be direct benefit

Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a big decision has been taken regarding coconut cultivation. He told that the coconut act will be amended. Emphasis will be laid on increasing coconut business across the world. Along with this, the CEO will be appointed in the Coconut Board. Let us tell you that India is the leading country in coconut production in the world. According to a report, the annual coconut productivity in the country is 11505 coconuts per hectare. The contribution of coconut in the country’s GDP i.e. GDP is about Rs 20000 crores. More than one crore people in the country depend on this crop for their livelihood.

According to the report, there are about 450 coconut processing units in India, in which 242 crore coconuts are processed every year. So far, 9720 coconut producer societies, 700 coconut producer federations and 61 coconut producer companies have been formed in the country. With the increase in the MSP of Copra, more than one crore people are expected to benefit directly and indirectly from it.
