Today’s Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather warning for several states across the country for May 6th. Due to the activation of several cyclonic circulations and western disturbances, heavy rain, lightning, and strong winds are expected to continue from North to South India. Below is a detailed weather forecast for May 6th and the coming days, based on the IMD’s official daily weather bulletin.

According to the latest weather bulletin, major weather changes will be observed in various parts of the country today due to pre-monsoon activities. Heavy rain is on alert for parts of Northeast India and West Bengal. Showers accompanied by strong winds are expected in the plains of North India.

Heavy rain and thunderstorm alert for these states on May 6th

Uttar Pradesh: Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning is expected in eastern Uttar Pradesh today (May 6). Rain and winds of 30-50 km/h are also expected in western Uttar Pradesh today.

Bihar and Jharkhand: A warning has been issued for heavy rain and thunderstorms with winds of up to 60 km/h in Bihar today. Light to moderate rain and lightning are also expected in Jharkhand.

West Bengal and Sikkim: Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are expected to experience widespread rain with heavy rain today. Gangetic West Bengal may also experience gusty winds of up to 60 km/h.

Northeast India: A heavy rain alert has been issued for Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh today. Rain and thunderstorms will continue in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura until May 7th.

Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab: Light to moderate rain and gusty winds of 30-50 km/h are expected in the capital Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Punjab today.

South India: No relief for the next 6-7 days

The Meteorological Department has predicted prolonged rain in the states of South India:

Kerala and Tamil Nadu: Heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely in Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry for the next 6 to 7 days.

Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh: Rain and gusty winds (30-50 km/h) will continue in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and south interior Karnataka until May 9th.

Forecast for the Coming Days (May 7 to May 11)

May 7 and 8: Thunderstorms and winds of up to 40-50 km/h are expected in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Vidarbha from May 6 to May 9. Rain and lightning will continue in Uttarakhand until May 8.

New Western Disturbance: A new western disturbance will affect northwest India from May 10.

May 10 and 11: Under the influence of this new system, a fresh spell of rain and strong winds of up to 40-60 km/h will begin in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Delhi-NCR on May 10 and 11.

The Meteorological Department has advised people to stay in safe places and maintain distance from electric poles and trees during bad weather.
