Heavy Rain Alert: Monsoon has once again picked up pace in the country. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rain for the next 48 hours. Torrential rains are expected especially in many states of North and Northeast India. According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon trough is now close to its normal position, due to which heavy rains may continue for the next few days. In view of this, red and orange alerts have also been issued in many states. People have been advised to stay safe and avoid non-essential travel.

The administration has also been put on alert in view of the possibility of incidents related to waterlogging, lightning and strong winds. This changing mood of the weather has increased the concern of farmers as well as common people.

Heavy rains are expected in these states

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rains may occur in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Assam. There is also a possibility of lightning with thunder at some places in Bengal and Jharkhand. At the same time, the possibility of landslides has also increased in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand and Himachal.

Chances of torrential rains in North India

The sky is cloudy in many areas of North India including Delhi-NCR. There is a possibility of good rain here too in the next two days. Heavy rains with strong winds may occur in parts of Punjab, Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh.

Situation may worsen in the Northeast

The mood of the weather has also changed in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura. In the last 24 hours, flood-like situation has arisen in many areas. The Meteorological Department has warned that the water level of rivers in these areas may suddenly rise.

Red and orange alert in many states

IMD has issued a red alert for some states, which means there is a possibility of loss of life and property. There is a red alert in Uttarakhand, Himachal and Assam, while an orange alert has been declared in some areas of Bihar, Jharkhand, Bengal, and Odisha.

People should be cautious, avoid going to the field

The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people not to go out of the house unless there is urgent work in the areas where there is a heavy rain alert. Avoid traveling in hilly areas and be alert in flood-prone areas. Stay away from open places during lightning.

How long will this round of rain last?

According to IMD, this series of rains can continue for the next 3-4 days. Especially in North-East and East India, the weather will remain in a fierce form till the first week of August.
